Tutor Spotlight — Meet Julie!

We’re excited to introduce Julie, one of Axia Tutoring’s talented math tutors!

Julie recently graduated from NYU Steinhardt with a Master’s in Teaching Mathematics for Grades 5–12 and plans to begin her teaching career with New York City Public Schools this fall.

She first discovered her passion for teaching as an undergraduate at Lafayette College, where she earned a B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Mathematics, graduating summa cum laude. During her time at Lafayette, Julie spent three years tutoring through America Reads, a program that places university students in local schools to support students in math and literacy. She especially enjoyed making challenging concepts engaging, accessible, and easier to understand.

After graduating, Julie spent a year teaching English at a high school in the rural town of Ena in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. That experience helped her develop culturally relevant, creative, and engaging lessons for students with a wide range of learning needs.

A fun fact about Julie is that she is a triplet! She looks forward to helping students explore math in a way that feels approachable, meaningful, and relevant to their lives.
